Doordash vs Uber Eats: Which food delivery app is better?

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, many restaurants are limited to delivery and pickup. Food delivery services such as DoorDash and Uber Eats have become convenient for picking up some food. DoorDash and Uber Eats are currently the largest food delivery service in the United States. From a superficial perspective, the apps are similar in terms of features. They’re both accessible in different cities, have hundreds of restaurants to choose from, and, more importantly, allow you to order food from your smartphone.

I wanted to know how these apps stack up not just for the delivery of food but also for other but less apparent attributes like price, layout, and customer service. To see which one of the food delivery apps was the most effective overall, I ordered the same food from both and compared prices for delivery at different times of the day.

The simple menu layout of DoorDash and personalized customer service, and the frequent removal of the small order cost for orders for just one person make it the application I most frequently use. we are discuss to Doordash vs Uber Eats But, as it’s not easy to determine which one will be more cost-effective when you begin placing orders for a larger group, I have both apps on my phone and may choose Uber Eats if it’s more economical.

Although both apps have a small cost if your subtotal is less than a minimum threshold, DoorDash often has a smaller minimum order requirement than Uber Eats, meaning the small fee is usually not charged if you’re purchasing only one item. This means that DoorDash is often the less expensive option for small orders.

Which app is cheaper? A full breakdown of fees, promos, and subscription services

When I began comparing the two apps, I was immediately curious about what the cost difference was between one over the other. DoorDash and Uber Eat charge a delivery cost, a service charge, and sometimes an order fee. Delivery charges vary based on the timing of the day and restaurant distance. DoorDash’s payments are usually between 10 and 11% of your order subtotal, and Uber Eats’ ‘s run up to 15 percent.

If your order’s total falls short of an amount and you’re charged a fee for your order between $2 and $3. My experience has shown that the minimum order amount for DoorDash is less than for Uber Eats. However, this is different depending on where you are. Though I thought that the lower service cost could make DoorDash generally less expensive compared to Uber Eats, I was not.

If I purchased two California burritos at the local Mexican restaurant about two miles away, the total cost on DoorDash was 3 dollars over Uber Eats. However, prices vary based on what time it is during the day, and I made my burritos during the non-peak hours between 2 and 4 p.m. So I looked up what they’d cost during peak times of lunch and dinner time. Uber Eats was pricier for lunch than DoorDash because the delivery charge had increased by $9. However, the delivery cost decreased after dinner, while DoorDash was the most expensive choice.

Prices also differ based on the restaurant’s proximity, which is why I compared the total I would have paid when I ordered at the Mediterranean restaurant half a mile from me and the Mexican restaurant located 4 miles from me. If I had requested two falafels at The Mediterranean eatery, DoorDash always would’ve been 5 dollars more over Uber Eats because Uber Eats has an exclusive 99-cent delivery charge for this restaurant.

If you were to order two burritos at The Mexican eatery, DoorDash was only a small amount cheaper at non-peak times or dinner times. But, at lunchtime, DoorDash was significantly less costly than Uber Eats because it cut its delivery fee by 4 dollars.

The bottom line is that no anyone is consistently less expensive than others. Prices fluctuate unexpectedly according to the purchase time and distance to the restaurant. Also, as evident from Uber Eats 99-cent delivery fee indicates, both apps offer discounts that could result in one being more affordable than the others.

If you’re ordering just to yourself for the first time, then DoorDash’s constant absence of the small-order cost will likely make it the most affordable choice. If you decide to order from multiple people, it’s virtually impossible to tell which is cheaper. I would suggest downloading both apps and making sure you check each one before placing your order.

If you intend to use these apps often, each of them offers a subscription for $10 per month service with no delivery charges. DoorDash offers DashPass shows members reduced costs for service on orders of more than $12. Eats Pass on Uber Eats gives a discount of 5% for orders of more than $15. Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders receive DashPass without additional cost for two years.

DoorDash’s menu layout and customer support are unmatched.

When I first accessed DoorDash and Uber Eats, they looked like each other. They have filtering options at the top and icons to locate particular items, such as fast food. While browsing through restaurants, I loved how the thumbnails of Uber Eats gave plenty of details on prices, types of food, and ratings without taking up too much space on the screen.

Contrary to this, DoorDash displays the restaurant’s name, fee, and delivery time but only provides more details when you scroll down. But any concerns I had regarding the interface of DoorDash were dispelled by its user-friendly menu. Both utilize an infinite scroll that has a navigation bar on the top.

However, DoorDash can switch to an organized view that groups things into categories such as “Appetizers” and “Dinner.” I’m a big fan of this option since I like the way it makes it easy to locate items without needing to navigate through the entire menu. I also like that DoorDash offers more personalized customer service, including live chat, telephone numbers, and a detailed FAQ page. Although Uber Eats also answers many frequently asked questions, it does not provide a chat service.

DoorDash and Uber Eats have nearly identical checkout processes.

After you have customized your order and placed it in the shopping cart, you can provide specific instructions on how to drop off your food, and you can also tip your driver at the time of checkout or when your food is delivered. Both of them have had to face negative feedback about how they handle driver tips, and one method to ensure your information is given to the driver is to leave the cash on your doorstep.

Both accept credit cards and Apple Pay for iOS users. Uber Eats also takes Venmo as well as Uber Cash. DoorDash also accepts Google Pay if you use Android.

DoorDash, as well as Uber Eats, are also offering an option for delivery without contact due to the outbreak. Watch the entire video to see my thoughts on how delivered my food was; however, I was generally quite satisfied with how the food looked after it got to me.

DoorDash drivers get paid more than those who provide food with Uber Eats on average. Additionally, the ability to set shifts and work quickly is an advantage.

But, Uber Eats is available in more countries. You’re also able to drive through the Eats platform when you are going using Uber.

If DoorDash is available in your area, Try it out first to get more money and a better application. If not, you should stick with Uber Eats for its accessibility and reasonable rates.
